Link 31 Oct 7 notes The Twisted Rope: Is Halloween a good day to do something for Osiris?»

chasing-isis:

I’m more or less celebrate it anyway just having grown up with the idea that “sure, the dead are around on Halloween, why not?” if not necessarily a spiritual tradition, but I think adding some spiritual elements sounds right to me. But could this work, or is it appropriation,…

This was really helpful, thanks!

(The best match for those cartouches in “Who Were The Pharaohs?” is Ptolemy VI - but it’s not an exact match…)

Ring Depicting Isis and a Snake

The BM’s catalogue describes this as Isis “issuing from a serpent’s mouth”, but I reckon it’s more likely to be Isis-Renenutet, or a similar snakey goddess.

Text 31 Jul 76 notes Poetry discovered in a temple dedicated to Isis

hiphopbeatnik:

The Flower Song (Excerpt)

To hear your voice is pomegranate wine to me:
I draw life from hearing it.
Could I see you with every glance,
It would be better for me
Than to eat or to drink.
